The Simple 5-Step Process

Step 1: Add Water

Pour water (about 2cm or less) into your stained pan to cover the burnt areas.

You don’t need to fill it completely, just enough to cover the problem spots.

Step 2: Add Bicarbonate of Soda

Sprinkle 2-3 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda into the water.

*The amount depends on your pan size.

Step 3: Heat the Pan

Place the pan on your hob and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

You’ll see it start to bubble and foam as the bicarbonate of soda activates in the hot water.

Step 4: Turn Off Heat

Once it’s bubbling evenly, turn off the heat immediately.

The activation continues working without additional heat, so no need to keep it boiling.

Step 5: WStep 5: Wait and Wash Off (Repeat if Needed)

Leave the pan on the hob for at least an hour, then give it a wash.

By this point, most of the stains should come off quite easily without much effort.

If any stubborn ones are still clinging on, just repeat the process. They do come off in the end

Good to Know

The heat activates the bicarbonate of soda, creating an alkaline solution that naturally breaks down burnt food and grease. It also soaks up oil stains effectively, which helps lift the residue from your pan surface.

You can use a usual washing-up sponge, though I’d recommend a natural one like loofah. Plastic sponges can deteriorate with high heat and might leave micro-plastics or can even melt.

Happy Results

It can also work for various kitchen items (except electronic ones). I’ve used it on old kitchen utensils and cups..

Your pot or pans that you might almost decluttered can be saved by this method.

It’s satisfying seeing all the stains come off smoothly from the pan and seeing the beautiful original surface . And you don’t have to buy a new one again.

Happy cleaning!
